INVESTITIURE CEREMONY 2021

The 7th of July 2021 marked an extraordinary day in the lives of our student leaders at Don Bosco School as they began their journey at the helm of youth leadership with an Investiture Ceremony. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Fr. Thomas Santiagu, Correspondent of the school. He was warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Chinnappa, the school principal. Vice Principal, Sujatha Devi Ma’am and the Coordinator for Primary Section, Sr. Grace were also present for the ceremony. In his welcome address, Rev. Fr. Chinnappa spoke about how leaders are made they are not born. They are made by hard effort which is the price all of us must pay to achieve a goal that is worthwhile, quoting Vince Lombardi.

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and singing of the Lord’s Prayer. Each student leader was then introduced. The highlight was listening to the ambitions of each student which ranged from becoming a medical doctor, IAS officer, teacher, entrepreneur to becoming a CEO of Google. Rev. Fr. Santiagu bestowed the badges and sashes to our students after which they took a pledge to uphold the honour and prestige of our school. In his address, Rev. Fr. Santiagu encouraged the students to dream big citing the example of Shri A.P.J. Kalam and Don Bosco – who truly was the ultimate dreamer. The program concluded with an enthusiastic singing of the school song and the National Anthem as well as a vote of thanks to all those who were involved in organizing the event.

The COVID lockdown has thrown many a challenge at us and conducting elections for our Student Council was certainly one of them. The teachers organized an efficient online voting system with great ingenuity. A recording of the Investiture Ceremony by Rev. Fr. Joseph will help all those who could not be present because of COVID restrictions to be a part of this momentous occasion in our school.

Congratulations to the members of our student council. We wish them a very successful year ahead.
