“We need to uphold the equal rights, voices and influence of girls in our families, communities and nations. Girls can be powerful agents of change, and nothing should keep them from participating fully in all areas of life.” — UN Secretary-General António Guterres
11th October is celebrated as the International Day of the Girl. The theme for 2019 is — Girl Force: Unscripted and Unstoppable.
Our Class 1 students dressed up as women in India who exemplified this year’s theme and spoke about them in the school assembly: Mother Teresa, Sania Mirza, Kalpana Chawla, Mithali Raj, Aarti Saha, Anjali Gupta and Roshni Sharma.
It was a day to celebrate the achievements made by women and to acknowledge their inspiring contribution to our society in different fields. Thank you to teachers, Mrs. Pooja Sah Class 1 Rose, and Mrs. Suvarna, Class 1 Jasmine, and the parents and students involved in giving us a memorable school assembly.
