Don Bosco School, Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, celebrated its eagerly anticipated Annual Day over two eventful days. On 18th December 2024, our Primary School children showcased their talents in energetic and colourful dance performances based on a carnival theme which transported the audience on a journey across the globe in celebration of diverse cultures. While on 19th December 2024, our Senior School took to the stage to present lively and vibrant performances which culminated in a drama entitled Yatra which conveyed a message of upholding moral principles and valuing parental love over giving in to peer pressure and misuse of social media.
The program started with a heartfelt tribute to St. John Bosco soulfully performed by our school choir and orchestra. Another highlight was a Telugu song on education and moral values which was accompanied by a veena and dholak. It was also an occasion to recognize some major achievements by our students. Three Class 10 students received the Fr. Lens Award for Academic Achievement for their extraordinary scores in the previous year’s CBSE exams. Students who had achieved a Guinness World Record and India Book of Records were also honoured on the stage.
The Chief Guest on the first day was Rev. Father Thomas Santiagu, President of the school and Provincial of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. The Guest of Honour was Rev. Father Michael Kishore, Correspondent of the school and the Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. Our principal, Rev. Father Nathan, presented an Annual Report on the school’s achievements and endevaours over the past Academic Year which was well appreciated by the parents and guests.
On the second day, the distinguished Chief Guest was Smt. Aruna Bahuguna, Retd IPS, a trailblazer in law enforcement who has served the Indian Police Service with unwavering dedication and commitment in various pivotal roles. In 1979, she made history by becoming the first female IPS officer in united Andhra Pradesh. She has inspired countless women across the country to serve the nation and we were deeply honored by her gracious presence at our school event. In her speech, she spoke about how fortunate the students were to study in a great campus with excellent facilities and she encouraged students to strive hard to pursue their dreams.
Our grateful thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly to make the Annual Day celebrations a grand success. From the school management, teachers and support staff to the technicians along with the cooperation and support of parents and well-wishers, each one contributed to the celebration of the unique art and culture that unites us together as humanity.
