2nd December 2019: Students from Classes 7 to 9 visited the National Institute of Rural Development for an educational trip. Students experienced first hand the various rural and environmental development units at NIRD such as the bio-gas plants, composters, paper making and dyeing units.
This was followed by a visit to the handicrafts fair which had over 20 states in India displaying traditional handicrafts. Most of the stalls had work done by women’s self-help groups while others had eco-friendly handicrafts and products.
A food fair which also had cuisine from different parts of the country as well as a Fish Food Festival was an added attraction.
The objectives of this educational trip was for students to understand units they studied in biology – vermicompost, bio-gas plants and sustainable development and environmental programs as well as lessons from social studies related to traditional handicrafts from different regions of India. We hope that this educational trip encourage are students to be responsible citizens and live an environmentally conscious and sustainable life.
